IMPACTING THE COMMUNITY is a key value at LOGOS Ministries.
Our aim is to not only empower believers to live Christ centered lives but for them to be end time soul reapers as well. 2 Timothy 4:5 says that we are to “be sober in all things, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.”
LOGOS encourages members to get involved in both church and community life, to reach out with God’s love, reaching those who need it most. People, unchurched or not, need to experience God’s love and hear the gospel, pointing them to Jesus. This is doing the work of an evangelist.
Ephesians 4:12 “to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up”
Romans 15:2 “Each of us should please his neighbor for his good, to build him up.”
Since doing the work of the ministry is a very clear directive to the body of Christ… We at LOGOS have opened up various ministry channels to help make God’s mandate a lot easier. Members can get involved through volunteering in various church and community based ministries. In this way, we develop a heart for God’s house and we expand our influence in our city. A team can accomplish far more together.
Listed below is an overview of some of the ministries we run:
LOGOS CHURCH MINISTRIES:
Sunday Celebration Services: Church services in the form of 2 morning services take place on a Sunday. This is the main gathering of all the saints in one place (Ps 122:1, Heb 10:25).
Care Groups: Weekly, members attend Care Groups in homes all over our city. These meetings focus on each member caring for each other (Heb 10:24-25, 1 Cor 12:25).
C7 Children’s Church & #My Reality Youth Ministry: Reaching youngsters on their own age appropriate level and speaking their “language and style” (2 Tim 3:14-15, Prov 22:6)
Brotherhood and SistaLuv: Meetings where Dr Shan and Ps Rey mentor men and women respectively and separately. A Brotherhood Breakfast with dynamic speakers is also held annually.
Conferences: The Beautiful Women’s Conference and the Blush Young Girls Conference is held annually where dynamic speakers from all walks of life share the life-changing Word of God.
LOGOS COMMUNITY IMPACT MINISTRIES:
Isaiah 61:1 and Luke 4:18 admonishes us to “proclaim the good news to the poor, bind up the brokenhearted, proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness the prisoners…”
School of Evangelism: Practical evangelism is held once a week on a Thursday evening. Members get together and go out on the street together to minister one-on-one in the community.
School Outreaches: reaching out to various schools with the love of Jesus on a monthly basis. We have seen many salvations.
Police Ministry: Ministering to Civil Servants regularly by providing them with soup during winter nights as they do their shift work.
Leamogetswe Safety Home: We have adopted a children’s home in Atteridgeville that we contribute to on a monthly basis.
GLOW (God’s Love Outreach to Women): Women collect items for and provide Rape packs to vulnerable women at Police Stations.
A generous church is a powerful church. There is so much more to do so the work is ongoing. LOGOS encourages everyone to get involved – bring non-perishable food, pre-loved clothes/items, furniture and equipment so we can distribute to the needy. When we give to others, we give to God (Prov 19:7, Luke 3:11).
